Bonn, 7 July 2011 - Around two years ago ITConcepts employee Michael Krautien deployed the IT Service Management Suite (ITSM Suite) ticketing system from BMC Software at Bielefeld University. The system has since become an integral part of the university’s computer center. According to Helmut Frisch, Service Desk Manager of the university’s computer center, the work of the Service Desk would be especially hard to imagine without this help desk ticketing system. “We have set ourselves the goal to serve the users of our services as fast as possible - either through the employees of the Service Desk directly or with the support of specialists from other departments of the computer center.” Receiving around 5,000 inquiries per year from the employees of the university alone, achieving this goal requires structured data capture and defined work processes. These requirements are being fulfilled with the ITSM Suite and have proven successful in service for the past two years and counting.
The successful implementation of the help desk ticketing system by ITConcepts has not only pleased Bielefeld University itself, but has also attracted much interest from other organizations. Searching for solutions for their own computer centers, two university delegates from Thuringia visited Bielefeld to see the system in action this month, and were inspired by their convinced colleagues.
